Preschool Time

Okay so I have decided since we can't afford to put Emmalee in preschool I will do it myself. I am thinking that I am going to share my lesson plans with y'all. I found a great site on Dawson's school web site. It teaches phonics the way his school does so that she can be ready by the time she hits kindergarten in 2 years. it is www.starfall.com I am gonna do it 3 times a week for 1.5 hours a day. I am not good at sticking to schedules but I am gonna try. I am hoping this will help me later when I finish my teaching degree.

Here is the math one:

http://saxonpublishers.harcourtachieve.com/HA/Resources/Saxon/EditionActivityPage.aspx?isbn=1600327176&grp=3rd%20Edition&img=1600327176.jpg&lang=en&type=M&user=sa

Dawson's school does Saxon Math and he learned so much last year.

Well I am going to start my lesson plans tomorrow. I will share all I do.

No matter how responsible he seems, never give your gun to a monkey.

My Sweet Husband!!!

On our way home from SJ he told me that he had some momey set aside from his last side job to finish the kitchen. Anyone that has been to my house knows that I LOVE decorating and Mike and I do a lot of do-it-yourself projects. The last almost 2 years have been spent putting new floors, painting, etc. Well since we are in no means rich we have to be thrifty with it and it means strecthing it our over a long period of time. So our next project is to paint our cabinets. We have old cabinets and they look okay, but are getting older by the minute, lol. So this weekend we will be painting them a distressed black! I am so excited. Then by Christmas time we will have our ugly blue laminate countertops gone. Blue just doesn't go with black, burgundy, cream and all the other colors I have in my home. We are going to lay ceramic tile down instead and get new sinks. If we bought prefab counters and all it would be thousands of dollars...which we don't have. So we are going to buy the tile and do it ourselves. My BIL and SIL have done it so we some-what know what we are doing, lol. Then i will be painting my walls that are pink, a brown/beige...(They are not pink by choice: I bought a color that looked beigy on the sample and ended up a terracotta color). SO I am very excited!! It was a nice suprise!

St John's Pioneer Days!!

Well. On thursday Mike, Peyton and I ventured up to St John's for the 24th an dto pick up Dawson and Emmalee!! We had so much fun! We just hung out most of the day friday and then went to the fireside circle and visted all our family and friends. It was so great to see everyone. We missed Kristen, Anna, Collette, Amy and Tiffany though :(.

Saturday was the Pioneer Days Parade. It was a lot of fun and the kids made out like bandits with candy! There was a kid on one of the floats that ran off the float and handed Dawson a huge handful of candy. They loved seeing Daddy and Uncle Travis driving the Salem Ward float! We had fun seeing our cousins! Savannah and Shayde hung out with us most of the parade and they are so much fun! Then Saturday night we went and visited Nathan and Terra Tanner. Nathan was Mike's best friend in highschool. We had a lot of fun just visiting and watching the kids play. Terra gave us a bunch of clothes for Peyton and they are so cute! We didn't go to the Steak Dinner or the dance because of the rain. We still had a lot fo fun though. Then Sunday we headed home. I wish I could say I had more pictures. Unfortunately when we got to the parade I had taken maybe 4-5 pictures when it said my memory card was full. I had only taken 3 pictures since we got there. Then I reviewed them and my dear husband had forgotten to let me know he used my camera when he went to St John's high to take pictures of the football P.A. system that his company is redoing. So I have a bunch of pictures on my phone. I am buying a memory card for my phone on ebay tonight so soon I will have the pics.

Here are the ones I am able to share:

Here is Emmalee and her cousin Shayde holding Peyton at the parade. I am so sad that my camera ran out of memory before I could take pictures of Savannah holding Peyton:

Okay it is go time.

I tried clothes on at Target yesterday and that was enough to make me more serious about losing weight. I remembered how nice it was to be 60 lbs lighter (or even more trhan that) and try on clothes and have some too big for me instead of just fit barely. So I am eating better and portioning. I am going to do this!!!!!!!!!!

Visiting Teaching Assignments are a calling from God!

Well, duh I always knew that but it just really hit me today. Lindsay,One of my best friends, Lindsay's Dads is in our Stake High Council and he spoke in our ward yesterday. I went to talk to him afterwards and he told me that his daughter Courtney was in our ward. Courtney is and has been less-active for a long time. Well I was looking at the ward list tonight and I looked for her under her maiden name (I didn't realize she was now married) and I saw another last name w/ Courtney and I saw her daughter's names and I realized that it was Lindsay's sister! The coolest part is I was just assigned to be her Visiting Teacher. I thought her name sounded familiar, but it just didn't hit me. I got chills down my spine when I realized it was her!

Well I called Lindsay to tell her and we were both so excited! Then she tells me how she was going in her other ward because she knew someone. So I am hoping to get her out to church after she has her baby. Then here is the clincher that almost made me cry it moved me so much. One of my other best friends is in Lindsay's brother's ward and she is his wife's Visiting Teacher

I have always known these callings were not by coincidence, but it just really hit me today. I am thankful for Visiting Teaching, it is such a wonderful thing. I have made some wonderful friends and had help when needed and I have also been able to serve others thru this calling. It is truly a calling from Heavenly Father!

My Vinyl Lettering Order

I found a girl that does an awesome job on Vinyl Lettering projects (Thank You Heidi!). I just got my order today and I love them!! Here they are.

New Calling!!

I have expressed to a few of you how I had been feeling like my time in Primary was coming to an end. I have been wanting to get back in Relief Society, but felt bad because I love my primary boys so much. I have enjoyed teaching for the last two year and I will miss my kids s omuch. Luckily alot of them are friends with Dawson so I will still see them alot. I will miss having Dawson in my class. It has been awesome to see him grow in class and learn about the gospel. Atleast I can still see that at home!

I have also enjoyed working with my new team teacher. (Mike was released as my partner so he could join young mens). My new partner has taught me so much in the short time we have worked together and so I am sad since I was hoping to work with her a bit longer.

I have grown so much from this calling. I used to think I wasn't very good at teaching young kids or praparing lessons. I thought I would always be reading from the manual whiel I teached, but thankfully I proved myself wrong. I have enjoyed teaching.

Well the Primary President called me this morning and told me that she has been praying really hard and has had the strongest feeling that she needs to move me. So I am no an Achievment Day Teacher for the 10 and 11 yr old girls. I am so excited! We will work on goals kind of like personal progress so it should be a lot of fun. I am also excited about working with Nicole Fuller in this calling. Shen is such a neat person and I look forward to getting to know her better. Plus her daughter and Emmalee are just a month apart and are friends so they won't be bored while we do our Achievment days activities.

The best part is that I will now be back with my friends in Relief Society. I LOVE my ward. We have some of the most amazing girls there. I have been blessed to know them. I have had so much fun and learne d alot from them. So it will be great to be with them again. I also look forward to feeding my soul with adults again.

Well yesterday we drove to globe to meet up with my Mother in Law. She is taking Dawson and Emmalee for the whole week. She was down in the valley on friday and was gonna pick them up, but at 10 she called and said that she couldn't. She was driving a school van and one of the other girls said the kids couldn't ride in there because it was a liabilty. So we met up with her. They have been so excited and it was all they talked about for the last week. Mike, Peyton and I will drive up thursday night and enjoy the pioneer day festivities. St John's is so fun for the 24th. There is always something fun to do. Plus I get to see old friends and roomates. I love that I know so many of the people that Mike grew up with.

Mike has to go up there and meet with some people at St John's high. His company will be doing some media system work for their auditorium. He has to do a walk thru and he is designing the plans. He is very excited. So his company is paying for the gas for our trip. How nice huh??!!

It has been so quiet around here without the kids. I miss them so much but I am enjoying the break. Peyton is the easiest baby ever so it has been wonderful. I told Mike it feels like when we were first time parents again, back when I had one child and moterhood was easier.

We are going to movie and out to dinner sometime this week and my friend Shanna is gonna watch Peyton for us. We haven't had a date since Peyton was 8 weeks old and he is almost 5 months now. So needless to say it is much needed.

Wanna know something so awesome?? I cleaned the house last night and it is still clean! It is a miracle. With that said though I do miss my kids and can't wait to see them again!

Oh where Oh where has my ipod gone???

Oh where oh where can it be? I am so mad, sad, etc. I cannot find my ipod shuffle. They had to go and make them so dang small!!! I have ransacked my house, my car, Mike's car, I just need to search our bedroom tomorrow. I have prayed and I have faith that if it was where I could find it I will. So if I don't find it tomorrow, I am guessing that it may have fallen in my car garbage sack. I had it on the drink/money console just below my radio. I always put my ipod in my cup holder. So I am afraid I may have thrown it away without knowing it. So a word to the wise, don't have your trash sack near your radio. Mine now resides on the back of the passenger seat headrest. I am so sad. Obviously Mike isn't happy. I wanted a 4G nano for Christmas, I know he won't get it now. I better save some of my bracelet sales money for my nano. The one great thing is that I have all of my music still. I would die if I lost my music too. When Mike and I got married between the 2 of us we had THE BEST collection of music between the 2 of us. It was stolen. So it took a looong time to even get close to having what we had then. We still don't. So thank goodness I still have my music.

Okay Girls, I need motivation!

I have no idea where all the willpower I had after I had Emmalee went. From the day I had her till Jan of 2006 I had lost 72 lbs total. I felt awesome and so much closer to the real me. Ummmm now I am close to what I used to be. I can't be myself and do the things I love like volleyball, hiking, biking etc. I want to. I was gonna play volleyball w/ my ward tonight but chickened out. I KNOW I won't be able to play, dive, spike like I used to and so I bummed out of it.

At this point I usually feel sorryf or myself, get bummed and then inevitably eat more to "comfort", then get mad. Then I will say the famous line: "I will start my diet tomorrow". Ya right! I need to do something.

The kids will be with Mike's parents tomorrow thru next sunday. So since I will not be rushing around caring for 3 kids (just 1 low maitenance baby!)I want to get the habit in of waking up earlier, exercising and eating better. I think a low stress, less housework week will help.

I need to make exercising fun again. I am more of an outdoors, play sports exerciser. Tapes and such bore me. I just need to get over that though since the AZ heat won't allow that right now. I plan on doing walk away the piunds 3x a week, followed by using my weight machine 2-3x a week and doing yogilates almost everyday. I LOVE yogilates. I feel so renewed afterwards.

I wanna be thin enough by winter to play at the park with my kids again..I miss that. So my dear friends please help motivate me, pretty please!

As I said before the older 2 kiddos will be going to Nana and Pap Price's for the week. What will I do??? My good friend Shanna's kids were w/ her mom this week, why couldn't it be next week so we could play kid free!!!??? I am guessing I will have a lot less housework. I may just finish my latest quilt, make some jewelry, scrapbook and possibly paint?? I have a few places that need touch-ups. I am thinking of painting my cabinets antique black too. Or maybe read a book..it has been ages. I also need to catch up on my digital scrapbooking. I can also hold Peyton w/out having to get up to help Emm or Dawson. It should be nice. Still I will miss my babies.

Mike and I are gonna get out on a date. I really wanna go see Harry Potter or Transformers, hint-hint MIke :). Our last date was when Peyton was 2 mos old..he is almost 5 mos now.....

Slowing down

Mike and I were talking about how sad it is that America is one of the most over worked countries in the world. Seriously I think Japan is the only country that works more than us. Mike mentioned how in England they work an average of 4 days a week and have almost a month of vacation in a year! Plus some European countries close down businesses for a few hours mid day for Ciesta.

I said they are lucky and I wonder why that is. Mike said the sad truth is Americans want too much and are way too materialistic. We have to keep up with our friends, neighbors, etc. Why is that. There are people living in one room homes, that have to walk for miles a day, etc, that are happier than most Americans.

I am so guilty of this. I have my moments where I know that although we aren't rich and can't get everything we want, I know that we are blessed. Then the next day I will be in the I want mode. Then when I realize I can't get it I am bummed out. How sad is that.

I think I take for granted all that I do have. I may not have a brand new car, but my van gets me where I need to be. Plus I don't have to travel out in the hot sun. My house may not be even near done with remodeling and it won't be for years, but I am grateful that #1 we have a place to live and that #2 we have done some things with it. We don't have money to go on big vacations or buy whatever we want, but we can afford what we need. My kids don't go hungry and they are happy. What more can I really ask for?

Plus I have a husband that works so hard so that I can stay home with our kids and do the job I always wanted to do. He has provided so much for us and I am grateful for the sacrafices he has made for us. I have 3 beautiful children. They may drive me crazy at times, but I love them and cannot imagine my life without them.

I also think as Americans we are too hard on ourselves. I read an article how European mothers are more content and don't feel like they have to be perfect. I think sometimes I am too hard on myself because being a housewife has that stigma of eating bon-bons and watching TV. In reality it isn't like that. It is a busy, demanding job that is never done. Still because of that stigma, I feel like I should always be working harder or have things done. I used to think I was the only one who never had her whole house clean at once or clean for more than 5 minutes. Thankfully I am realizing that in reality no one, unless they are OCD does. I feel better knowing I am not the only one.

I have the greatest friends I could ask for. Sadly some are far away and sadly I don't get to see some that live in the valley too often, but I love them and know that they have made a positive influence in my life. I would not be who I am without them. They have all helped me in one way or another.

I just think we all need to slow down and be thankful for what we have and not be hard on ourselves. Maybe I am the only that is. Mike always tells me that I am my own worst critic. So that is my goal now.

I am not sure if that all made sense, since it came from the ramblings of my mind it may have jumped around a bit, lol.

Are you a morning or a night person??

Okay this is really bothering me. Unless I have plans, I wake up in the morning around 8 or 9 am..when the kids get up. I feed them and most mornings I am just so tired I don't do much of anything in the morning and if I have plans I am so slow to start, so that means it is always rush time to go anywhere. I just can't get myself going in the morning. Then in the afternoon it is catch up time on chores, etc. Then at night I catch up more on the house and sometimes I can't fall asleep till one or two. I also have zero energy, which doesn't motivate me to exercise, etc. Then at like 9 att night I get a burst of energy. Okay that would be great if being a SAHM was done on graveyard shift, but hello it isn't. What's the deal????

I know I am not depressed. I am very happy, just unmotivated at the moment. This whole cycle does make me feel lazy and unproductive though, which innevitably brings on guilt. I need energy and I need to change my cycle to early to bed (like 10 or 11) and early to rise like by 6:30 or 7. I know I would get more done early, have time alone and feel so much better about myself. The more I try the harder it is to get out of this cycle.

I love how I feel when I wake up w/ a bit of energy and get things done. It is the best feeling. Someone help me please. How can I change my cycle and feel more like a morning person. I guess I need discipline first, huh??

Photobucket

Why are my pics so small suddenly?? I am attaching them the same way I always do. They look small on my message board too. Soo annoying.

Happy Fourth of July!!

I hope everyone had a fun but most importantly SAFE Independence Day!! Well we started the day with a big pancake breakfast, I had to make my fat free pancakes for myself w/ lite syrup (not so yummy) but I put some fresh blueberries in to make the pancakes taste better.

Then we bummed around. Mike and the kids vegged in front of the boob tube and I did some digital scrapbooking. Then I got so bored. So we discussed for far too long what to do, lol. We were gonna hot bass pro shop and see there Africa display and fish aquarium, but never made it. We browsed Target for shoes for Mike and then off to eat. We were gonna go to Cafe Rio, but didn't feel like making the drive..and using up gas. So we decided to hit the mall for dinner and let the kids play at the park. Well everything but the big department stores were closed..including the eatery. So we played in the courtyard for a bit. Emmalee fell in the fountain, I was right there and she is okay, so I can laugh about it. Then we drove looking for something open to eat. We went to Sonic. Their Sante Fe salad is YUM! Then we made our way home. We planned on going up on a butte near our house to watch fireworks, but Peyton was tired and the thought of getting the kids up a hill in the heat didn't sound so fun anymore. So we watched the Tempe Towne Lake fireworks show on TV. Then we did some experiments. We did my friend Kristen's fireworks in the glass project (see a few entries ago in her blog)but I couldn't get many bubbles to burst. The kids still loved it. So I got out the baking soda and vinegar and the kids loved that!

Isn't it funny how you get so stir crazy at home and just getting out to window shop or for a drive can satisfy you sometimes??
Here are some pics from our fun day!
