I really have some great kids!

Sometimes in the hum and drum of life I can get frustrated because they didn't do this or they didn't do this, etc. Then they do things that remind me why I love them so much. I wanted to share a few of these things with you.

Dawson
I have said it before and I will say it again, Dawson is the peacemaker of our family. He always finds ways to help or cheer others up.

Dawson was given a piggy bank with $20 in it from my brother Billy and his wife Teanne. He earned some money from us and the tooth fairy contributed a few dollars. He had enough to buy a Bakugan toy. He has been wanting one for a while. So last Saturday I told him we would go and buy one.

Emmalee was listening and wanted to go. I explained that Dawson has worked hard and saved his money and he is buying a toy with his money and that we wouldn't be buying anything else, but we would go and get ice cream afterwards. She said okay and we went.

Dawson selected his toy and Emmalee was looking sad. I was so surprised when Dawson offered to buy Emmalee a toy too. Emmalee's face lit up. I was so pleased with Dawson's generosity. It really warmed my heart to see him do something so sweet for his sister. He is the best big brother to Emmalee and Peyton.

He loves learning. He reads all the time. He takes the children's encyclopedia to bed and reads it! He shocks me when he explains to me how red blood cells work or what type of cloud is in the sky, and what it means. He gets good grades and I am so pleased with him.

Emmalee

Emmalee has so much spunk and enthusiasm in all that she does. She has a vivid imagination. I enjoy hearing the songs and stories that she makes up. She brings fun into the family.

I love how easily she makes friends everywhere we go. One thing I have noticed about her is how she doesn't judge people. She seems to love everyone. She is always telling me nice things about her friends, etc. I have never heard her say a mean thing to her friends. That is a big accomplishment for a 4 yr old girl.

She loves to help me clean and does a great job. She is a little mommy to Peyton. She has such concern for his feelings and I love that. At church she and Peyton sat in the 2 chairs in front of us for a while. I watcher her as she handed him goldfish, shared her books with him and even patted his back and put her arm around him. It made my heart so happy to see the love between them!

Peyton

Peyton is my baby in every way. He is very passionate in all that he does, from his smile to his games. Don't get started with a game of peek-a-boo, because he will not stop. You seriously have to distract him. He already has such an imagination when he plays. I ge a kick out of watching him. He is also so very affectionate. He gives the best hugs hands down. He will pat and rub your back while he is hugging. He is growing so fast (well not physically, he is my midget child, lol)emotionally and intellectually. I love this age because a new piece of him comes out almost daily.

Last night I was telling Mike how thankful I am for our kids. They fight a little, but their fights are not the awful fights you think of for brothers and sisters. Billy and I were awful, we brawled..seriously. Thankfully he is one of my best friends now. My kids are not like that. I am very lucky in that aspect.

On my worst days, the days where they will not listen or are cranky, I really try to remember these awesome little tidbits about them. It puts everything into perspective.
